Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MGD OUTDOOR ELECTRICAL LIMITED (trading as Weathervolt, "we", "us") collects and uses personal data when you visit mgdoutdoorelecc.shop, buy our outdoor power-safety products, join Weathervolt Club or contact us. We sell physical plug-in and place-on accessories and ship worldwide.
1. Who is responsible (data controller)
The data controller is MGD OUTDOOR ELECTRICAL LIMITED, 8 Barons Gate, Bothwell, Scotland, G71 8SJ, United Kingdom. For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@mgdoutdoorelecc.shop or +44 7234149781.
2. What we collect
- Order, shipping & delivery data: name, email, phone, billing address and shipping (delivery) address, chosen plug standard, items ordered and order history.
- Account & membership data: email, membership plan and status where you join Weathervolt Club.
- Support & enquiry data: the content of contact and setup-help forms, including your country, budget band and description of your outdoor power setup.
- Payment data: handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation and limited details (such as the last four digits and card brand) but never your full card number.
- Technical & usage data: IP address, device and browser type, and pages viewed, collected through strictly necessary and (with consent) analytics cookies.
3. Collection sources — where we collect it from
We collect personal data from the following sources:
- Directly from you: when you browse the store, place an order, enter your shipping and billing address at checkout, create an account, join a membership, or complete our contact or setup-help forms.
- Automatically from your device: technical and usage data collected through strictly necessary and (with consent) analytics cookies and similar technologies when you use the site.
- From our payment processor (Stripe): transaction confirmations and limited payment details (such as the last four digits and card brand), never your full card number.
- From our delivery carriers: dispatch and delivery status updates for your order.
- From service providers acting on our behalf: our hosting, database, email and (where used) analytics processors, in the course of running the store.
4. Why we use it and legal bases
- To fulfil your order and deliver goods — performance of a contract.
- To manage your membership and account — performance of a contract.
- To respond to enquiries and provide support — legitimate interests / pre-contract steps.
- To take payment and prevent fraud — contract and legal obligation.
- To keep re-marketing leads from an unfinished checkout — legitimate interests (you may object at any time).
- To send marketing — consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To meet tax, accounting and consumer-law duties — legal obligation.
6. Payment provider boundary
Card payments are processed by Stripe. Weathervolt does not receive, store or process your full card number, CVC or full PAN — these are entered on Stripe's secure Checkout and handled by Stripe as an independent controller/processor under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive only the order confirmation and limited, non-sensitive details needed to manage your order and refunds.
7. International transfers
Because we ship worldwide and use global processors, your data may be transferred outside the UK/EEA. Where it is, we rely on adequacy decisions or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. How long we keep it
We keep order and transaction records for as long as needed to fulfil the order and meet legal, tax and accounting duties (generally up to 6 years). Enquiry and marketing-lead data is kept for no longer than 24 months from your last interaction unless you ask us to erase it sooner.
9. Your rights (UK GDPR / EU GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data or complete incomplete data.
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restrict or object to processing, including direct marketing.
- Data portability.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- For California residents: know, delete and correct data, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" (we do not sell or share personal data as those terms are defined).
To exercise any right, email support@mgdoutdoorelecc.shop. We respond within the statutory timeframe.
10. Do Not Sell or Share
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. If you are a California resident, you can still submit an opt-out request to support@mgdoutdoorelecc.shop and we will honour it.
12. Automated decisions and children
We do not make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Our store is not intended for children under 13, and 13–17 year-olds must have a parent or guardian's consent. Outdoor power must be set up and supervised by an adult.
13. Order fulfilment, shipping address and billing data
- Shipping address & order fulfilment: to fulfil and dispatch your order we process your shipping address (delivery address), name, email and phone, and the items and plug standard ordered. We share your shipping address and contact details with our delivery carriers solely to deliver your parcel and provide tracking.
- Delivery carriers: third-party couriers receive the shipping address needed to complete delivery; they act as separate controllers/processors for the carriage of your parcel.
- Returns & exchange support: our support team uses your order and shipping data only to process returns, exchanges, replacements and related customer service under our Returns and Refund policies.
- Billing & payment data: billing details are processed by Stripe to take payment and to handle refunds, chargebacks and disputes. We receive confirmation and limited billing details but never your full card number.
- Cross-border orders: where you ship internationally, your shipping address may be shared with carriers and customs handlers as required to deliver the order and clear any duties.
14. How we protect your data
We use encryption in transit, access controls and reputable processors. No method of transmission is 100% secure, but we maintain appropriate technical and organisational measures and review them regularly.
15. Complaints and contact
Contact us first at support@mgdoutdoorelecc.shop. If you are in the UK you may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EEA, to your local supervisory authority. This policy is governed by the law of England and Wales.
